What a real estate agent's website must show in Kentucky
Kentucky's advertising regulation, 201 KAR 11:105, is detailed. Every ad must include the full name of the brokerage company (or the principal broker, marked as principal broker) as registered with the Commission, in written text, clear and visible. Online, every page or post counts as a separate ad and must show that name in its header or without scrolling, or else link clearly to a page that does. An agent's name may not appear larger than the brokerage name, and team names must end in "team" or "group".

Does a website count as advertising in Kentucky?
Yes. The regulation covers internet, social media and other digital or online advertising by name, and treats every individual viewable page or post as a separate advertisement. 201 KAR 11:105
“For purposes of real estate company or licensee advertisement via internet, social media, or other digital or online forms of advertisement, every individual viewable page or post shall constitute a separate advertisement”
What every advertisement must show
The full name of the real estate brokerage company registered with the Commission, or the full name of the principal broker with a clear designation of principal broker status. 201 KAR 11:105
“All advertisements shall include: (a) The full name of the real estate brokerage company registered with the commission; or (b) The full name of the principal broker registered with the commission, with a clear designation of principal broker status.”
That name in written text, clear and visible to a typical observer. A logo without the name written out does not count. 201 KAR 11:105
Your own name (or registered alternate name or one nickname) may appear, but not larger than the brokerage name. 201 KAR 11:105
“The content permitted by Section 2(3) of this administrative regulation shall not appear larger than the content required by Section 2(2) of this administrative regulation.”
Websites specifically
Every viewable page or post must show the brokerage name in the page or post header, or visible without scrolling or navigating. 201 KAR 11:105
“Each advertisement shall contain the content required by Section 2(2) of this administrative regulation in the page or post header, or visible on the page or post without the observer scrolling or otherwise navigating the page or post to view the content required”
If a page or post can't reasonably carry it, include a clickable direct link, clear and identifiable as a link, to a page, post or profile that shows it the same way. 201 KAR 11:105
Videos and other audiovisual ads must announce or show the brokerage name at the beginning. Online ads that were true and accurate when made are not violations later. 201 KAR 11:105
Team names
A team or group may advertise under an alternate or assumed name only with the principal broker's written approval, and the principal broker must register the name with the Commission first. 201 KAR 11:105
A team or group name must end with "team" or "group", may not suggest brokerage services independent of the principal broker, and may not be shared by more than one group in the brokerage. 201 KAR 11:105
“If the alternate or assumed name applies to a team or group, the alternate or assumed name shall end with the word "team" or "group."”
What gets agents in trouble
Advertising property without the owner's written consent, or promoting a specific property listed by another principal broker without that broker's written consent. Public information, such as closed sales, can still be used to market your services. 201 KAR 11:105
False, misleading or deceptive advertising, including anything that would lead a reasonable observer to think brokerage services are offered independently of the brokerage company or principal broker. 201 KAR 11:105
Claiming a closed sale as a buyer's agent without clearly stating your role was as the buyer's agent. 201 KAR 11:105
Worth knowing
Nicknames: one nickname per licensee, and only once it shows on your online services portal record. 201 KAR 11:105
If your principal business location is outside Kentucky, ads must say you hold a Kentucky license and give the jurisdiction of your principal business location. 201 KAR 11:105
201 KAR 11:105 does not require a license number; it requires the brokerage's (or principal broker's) full registered name. 201 KAR 11:105
Every SiteCurb site has a broker-disclosure footer on every page, listings included: your name, your brokerage and your license number, plus a disclosure field for the text and links your state requires (Texas agents get a one-click helper for the two TREC links). Fill it in once and it is on every page.
How many agents this applies to
1,378 real estate agents were working in Kentucky when we last counted, across 12 brokerage offices. That is agents with a live profile on a brokerage's own site, not everyone holding a licence, so it is the population these rules actually bind day to day. The Kentucky brokerage directory breaks it down office by office. Counted 2026-10-07.

Questions people ask
What has to be on my website in Kentucky?
Your brokerage company's full registered name, in written text, on every page, in the header or visible without scrolling, and no smaller than your own name. A footer alone may not satisfy the no-scrolling rule, so put the brokerage name in your site header too. On SiteCurb the broker-disclosure footer covers every page; add the brokerage to your header, at least as large as your name.
What about Instagram and Facebook posts?
Each post is its own advertisement. If the brokerage name can't be in the post itself, include a clear, clickable link to a profile or page that shows it without scrolling.
How do I name my team?
End the name with "team" or "group", get your principal broker's written approval, and have the broker register the name with the Commission before using it.
