What a real estate agent's website must show in Arkansas

Arkansas's advertising rule, 17 CAR 220-1004, is short. A licensee may not advertise any property, their own included, or display a real estate sign without the name of the firm they are licensed with. Everyone licensed under a principal broker advertises only under the name in which the principal broker's license was issued, and agents' individual names or phone numbers may appear only when their connection with the broker is obvious in the ad. The rules don't address websites, social media or teams specifically.

Does a website count as advertising in Arkansas?

  • The rule applies to advertising any property and to "public advertising" generally, without listing media or carving any out, so a website is covered like any other ad. There is no website-specific provision. 17 CAR 220-1004

What every advertisement must show

  • The name of the firm you are licensed with, on any advertisement for any property, your own included, and on any real estate or property management sign. 17 CAR 220-1004

“A licensee may not advertise any property, including the licensee's own property, for sale or rent, or display a real estate or property management sign without including in that advertisement or sign the name of the firm with whom that licensee is licensed.”
  • Business is advertised only under the name in which the principal broker's license has been issued. 17 CAR 220-1004

Websites specifically

  • There is no website-specific rule. A website is advertising like any other: it names your firm, and your own name or number appears only in a way that makes your connection with the broker obvious. 17 CAR 220-1004

Team names

  • Arkansas's rules have no team provisions. The general rule still applies: all advertising runs under the principal broker's licensed name, so a team name can't stand in for it. 17 CAR 220-1004

What gets agents in trouble

  • Advertising any property, or displaying a sign, without the name of your firm. 17 CAR 220-1004

  • Advertising or doing business under any name other than the one on the principal broker's license. 17 CAR 220-1004

  • Individual names or telephone numbers in an ad where the licensee's connection with the broker isn't obvious; the principal broker must "present a true picture" in public advertising. 17 CAR 220-1004

“In public advertising a principal broker shall be especially careful to present a true picture and should not permit licensees to use individual names or telephone numbers unless the licensee's connection with the broker is obvious in the advertisement.”

Worth knowing

  • 17 CAR 220-1004 does not require a license number, phone number or address in advertising; it requires the firm's name. 17 CAR 220-1004

How SiteCurb handles this

Every SiteCurb site has a broker-disclosure footer on every page, listings included: your name, your brokerage and your license number, plus a disclosure field for the text and links your state requires (Texas agents get a one-click helper for the two TREC links). Fill it in once and it is on every page.

How many agents this applies to

1,262 real estate agents were working in Arkansas when we last counted, across 12 brokerage offices. That is agents with a live profile on a brokerage's own site, not everyone holding a licence, so it is the population these rules actually bind day to day. The Arkansas brokerage directory breaks it down office by office. Counted 2026-10-07.

This page paraphrases the rules; the rules themselves are what bind you. Each was read on the date shown. If the AREC changes a rule, the page will lag until it is read again.

Not legal advice. When a rule and this page disagree, the rule wins; when in doubt, ask your broker or the AREC.

Questions people ask

What has to be on my website in Arkansas?

The name of the firm you're licensed with, exactly as on your principal broker's license, shown so your connection with the broker is obvious. On SiteCurb the broker-disclosure footer carries the firm on every page.

Do I need the firm name when advertising my own house?

Yes. The rule applies to any property, including your own.

Does Arkansas have team-name rules?

Not in the Commission's rules. Advertising still has to run under the principal broker's licensed name, with each agent's connection to the broker obvious.
